About this Event
Take a walk through the garden with Ancora as we encounter flowers, trees, creatures, and love. This concert features poetry spanning nearly a thousand years, from Hildegard to Emily Dickinson, that explores our theme by composers including H.H. Amy Beach, Morten Lauridsen, Anders Endroth, and Mari Esabel Valverde. The centerpiece of this concert is Beach’s Three Flower Songs, which she composed in 1896. Also centering this concert is Endroth’s Tree Song, a call to action to protect and preserve nature. After we make our way down the garden path, the choir will end the concert with Dr. Jerome Wright’s setting of Lo How a Rose, joined by Ancora alumni.
