Let us ease you into Belgian Beer Week with a relaxing movie night and a showcase of the oldest continuously brewed style of beer in the world: Lambics. On Monday July 15, we are delving deep into the Belgian Beer experience as we screen the captivating feature-length documentary, Bottle Conditioned. An exploration into the small Belgian community of lambic beer, where brewers and blenders of different generations wrestle with tradition and the increased demand for their rare beers. Bottle Conditioned follows Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, Jerry Franck as he explores the small Belgian community of lambic beer. Filmed over three years, Jerry initially was drawn to documenting the unique production aspects of lambic compared to regular beer. As filming progressed a larger story revealed itself. Lambic was going through a renaissance. Demand had outstripped supply with much of the craze driven by social media. The ever changing craft beer trends had caught up with the lambic scene creating an unexpected pressure within the community and its producers. A new question has been raised on how to uphold the traditions while satisfying the newfound demand. Bottle Conditioned explores this crossroad in ideologies of a very traditional community becoming wrapped up in the wheels of modernity.
To accompany the screening, Sacch kitchen will launch the Belgian Beer Week menu and there will be 12 lambics on tap. Breweries on tap featured in the documentary include Boon, Cantillion, Lindemans, Tilquin and Timmermans. This is a FREE event so it is first in best dressed for the movie screening at 8:00pm.

This is Belgian comfort food and Sunday supper combined. Lamb shanks are slowly braised in a stock of Saint Bernardus ABT 12, dried figs and spices.
STEAK FRITES WITH LAPIN SAUCE
In Belgium, steak-frites is practically one word. 300g of rump steak seasoned lightly, cooked perfectly and served with a traditional Belgian Lapin sauce and a pile of house made fries. $39.00
FLEMISH-STYLE PORK LOIN
Seasoned pork loin pan seared before being finished in a casserole of beer, vegetables stock and lemon. Throw some apples on top with a healthy dose of butter and you have yourself some Belgian delicious.
STOOFLVES-FREET (FLEMISH BEEF STEW)
A staple of Belgian cuisine that varies between regions and households. Typically it is a stew of beef and onion cooked overnight in a stock beer and spices. That is exactly what the chef has done here!
CHICKEN WATERZOI
A traditional Belgian winter warmer. A thick, creamy and soul warming chicken stew chock full of classic vegetables and chicken poached to perfection.
