About this Event
Discover the joy of combining delicate ink lines with flowing watercolour to create beautiful botanical artwork.
Watercolour and ink work wonderfully together, offering both structure and softness. Ink pens help define shapes and fine details, while watercolour adds depth, tone and a natural, fluid feel. This combination is especially effective for capturing the textures, lines and colours found in plants and flowers, and suits beginners as well as more experienced artists.
During the workshop, you will learn the basic skills of both techniques, including how to apply colour smoothly, mix colours confidently, and choose shades that work well together to achieve strong, effective results.
You’ll have the chance to create your own botanical motif, so please bring along a plant of your choice or a good‑quality photograph, as well as your own watercolour materials.
Our art tutor Marina will demonstrate a range of watercolour techniques and offer clear, supportive guidance throughout. Once you’ve mastered the basic drawing and colour layers, Marina will also show you different ways to add the fine veins and details that bring botanical artwork to life.
Materials required for this workshop
You will need to bring the paints of your choice, brushes suitable for watercolour, good quality watercolour paper or canvas or canvas board and turpentine if you decide to work with oils, as watercolour.
This summer term, we’re running a series of four individual 2.5‑hour workshops on Wednesday afternoons. Each workshop has a different theme, so no two sessions are the same. Each workshop must be booked and paid for separately, and you can choose to attend one or several. If you can’t find the booking link for a session, please contact us.
All our courses run based on a minimum number of participants.
If you are no longer able to attend, please contact us at your earliest convenience. Cancellations received within 2 days of the course start date are non-refundable.
Missed sessions by individual students are non-refundable.
When purchasing more than one ticket—whether for yourself or on behalf of others—you must provide the correct individual information for each attendee. Duplicate or identical information cannot be used for multiple tickets and may result in registration issues.
