This one-hour talk will reveal how plants’ electrical signalling system enables them to sense and respond rapidly, within seconds, to their environment in order to coordinate growth, defence, photosynthesis and whole of-plant acclimatisation. It will outline the practical application of research findings. The talk will also examine electrical signalling in fungi and the actions of their mycelial networks in a range of biological and environmental settings. It will touch on the emergent field of fungal computers and probable applicationsLocated in the Treehouse Seminar Room, Wellington Botanic Garden ki Paekākā.
Free of charge. You’re welcome to bring along your own ‘brown bag’ lunch to enjoy during the talk.
The speaker is Reg Harris, a volunteer guide [botany] at Wellington Botanic Garden.
