What our customers say

'A lovely slow couple of hours learning about and doing sashiko. Really enjoyed it, Marina was super helpful and would recommend it - so much so that have signed up to her "visible mending" class too'
- Kay, St Albans

'A relaxed workshop with a friendly and helpful host. I found Sashiko very relaxing and the fact that there is no "wrong" helped with my limited sewing capabilities! It's enabled me to revive a bleach stained pair of trousers which would have otherwise gone in the bin, so thank you Marina!'

-Heidi, Hertford
What to expect

Rooted in Japanese textile traditions, this workshop draws inspiration from Boro and Sashiko.

Boro is an artistic way of reusing fabric scraps to reinforce, repair, and decorate worn textiles — giving them new life while celebrating their history.

Sashiko uses simple, rhythmic stitching to strengthen fabric while creating beautiful geometric patterns.

In this relaxed and supportive session, you’ll create a floral scrap collage using rescued textiles, carefully selected premium floral fabric prints (including Liberty fabrics), and sashiko techniques.

Enjoy tea while you stitch, connect with others local women, and make something meaningful by hand.

Your finished piece can become a framed collage art, a gift, or a patch for a future repair project.

What’s included
• Guided instruction and demonstrations
• All materials provided (fabric, thread, needles, practice pieces)
• A handout to take home with tips and resources

What to bring
• A garment or home textile you’d like to decorate with your floral collage patch (jeans, jackets, tote bags, oven gloves, cushion covers etc). We recommend non-stretch linen or cotton fabric as it’s easier to stitch onto
• A pair of glasses (if you require reading glasses)

Perfect for
• Beginners and experienced stitchers alike
• Anyone wanting to slow down, stitch, and connect
• Those interested in sustainability, slow fashion, and creative handwork

Please note: Public dates for this workshop require at least 3 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
