Join us for our third Boozy Book Fair with Bleeding Heart Brewery! Fireside Books will be at Bleeding Heart Brewery on Saturday, April 11th from 2:00-6:00pm to celebrate our favorite genre fiction: fantasy, sci-fi, and horror.
Local authors Tamsin Ley, Sean Schubert, and W.B. Clark will be present to sign copies of their books. Don Rearden is stopping by for a short guest appearance at the beginning of the event.
Have the cards read for you by our resident tarot reader.
Most of all, grab an exciting new read for yourself, enjoy some of Bleeding Heart Brewery's excellent food and drinks, and have a great time!
About the authors:
Don Rearden:
A novelist, screenwriter, and sometimes tundra poet—Don Rearden wrote the critically acclaimed The Raven's Gift, which made The Washington Post Notable List for Fiction, calling him "a master of the cliffhanger." He co-authored the best-selling memoirs Never Quit and Warrior's Creed.
A Professor of Writing at the University of Alaska Anchorage, his recent honors include Rasmuson Project Awards, a UAA Chancellor's Award, a Contributions to Alaska Literacy Award, the Alaska Literary Prize for Fiction, and a finalist in Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope Screenwriting Contest. He grew up in Bethel and the villages of Akiak and Kasigluk and currently lives outside of Anchorage in the quirky mountain community of Bear Valley.
David James with the Anchorage Daily News called Rearden's latest book of poetry, Without A Paddle, "an unsentimental but compassionate volume for anxious times," and "the tonic many of us need right now."
Tamsin Ley:
USA Today Bestselling Author Tamsin Ley writes steamy sci-fi romance with a pinch of pixie dust. Her stories feature irresistible heroes, surprising twists, and always end with a happily-ever-after. With over twenty titles published worldwide, Tamsin delights readers who crave heart, heat, and a touch of magic.
Born and raised in Alaska, she now lives there with her husband and an unruly flock of chickens. When she's not plotting alien love stories or post-apocalyptic escapes, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and playing D&D with her family.
Sean Schubert:
Sean Schubert was born in Indiana but successfully escaped after finishing his degree in English from Wabash College. Fleeing north to Alaska with his girlfriend and future wife, the two of them made a home and life in the Last Frontier. Sean enjoys to both read and write books with stories that demand attention and characters who are goofy, interesting, and/or unique.
Having read everything Kurt Vonnegut Jr, Tom Robbins, Christopher Moore, and Toni Morrison have offered the world, Sean finds inspiration from their stories and their immensely powerful and enticing writing styles. Sean Schubert's Alaskan Undead Apocalypse series has five installments: Infection, Containment, Mitigation, Resolution, and Unwilling. He has also written a standalone novel titled Fyre. His stories center on extreme events that require desperate individuals to make lifechanging decisions while trying to maintain their humanity. When Sean isn't teaching at King Tech High School or writing, he can usually be found playing or watching soccer.
W.B. Clark:
W.B. Clark is from small-town Oklahoma, mostly raised on a farm full of chickens and then partially on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2015, then moved to some big cities, where life happened. At some point she finally got a job that paid her bills but then quit that job to write books, illustrate, and paint pretty pictures. She now lives in Alaska full-time writing stories that have no end.
W.B. Clark swears often, plays random instruments poorly, sings, and often finds adventure in the mundane. She likes to go on long walks, camp, scuba dive, and start complex projects, she knows little to nothing about. She loves breakfast, conversations that spark joy, and hearing other people's stories.
