Learn more about our attendees:
Ray Bonnell - A Creek, a Hill, & a Forty
A Creek, a Hill & a Forty is a firsthand narrative of the early years of Alaska's Matanuska Colony-with the story told through the personal letters of one colonist, Margaret Miller.
Margaret, along with her husband and three daughters, emigrated to Alaska as a colonist in May 1935. She was an erudite and talented writer, and after arriving in Alaska, Margaret wrote weekly multi-page letters to her mother back in Wisconsin-letters that her mother kept-letters that form the core of this book.
Uncolored by the passage of time, Margaret's letters reflect colony life as it happened. Her experiences may not be those of every colonist, but, through her eyes can be seen some of their fears and motivations, some of their struggles and accomplishments.
Including three maps and 60 photographs, A Creek, a Hill & a Forty is an enjoyable read that provides a glimpse into the lives of the colonists, as well as insights into the colony's development.
In addition to his book A Creek, a Hill, & a Forty, Ray has also published collections of his pen and ink artwork of Alaska in the Interior Sketches series.
Cheryl Homme - Palmer, Alaska Businesses and Buildings
An illustrated history of Palmer's businesses and buildings from 1897 to 1970 with locations and dates of operation. Contains an exhaustively researched inventory of the pioneering men and women who served as proprietors of early Palmer businesses. The accompanying text provides an overview of the challenges of operating a small business in the frontier days of Alaska, and chronicles the efforts by business owners to build and eventually incorporate a city.
Anthony Irsik - Palmer Pocket Poetry
The first anthology of poetry about Palmer Alaska written by Anthony R. Irsik, a local poet in the area. This collection covers some of the current local businesses, some of the history, and a few of the current events. Within you will find 30 poems that begin to show you what makes Palmer such a beautiful and unique city.

Luminescent Readings by Brea
Hey, my name is Breanna or "Brea" Stevens (br-EE st-EE-VENS), and I have been reading tarot cards ever since my father brought home the Goddess Tarot for my sister and I, when I was only fourteen years old. Twelve years later and I have only now started to read the cards "professionally" for people. However, in that first decade, I must have done hundreds upon hundreds of readings for people far and wide. I would read for my friends, I would read for my family, I would read for my coworkers, I would read for guests staying at the hotel I worked at– I would read for anyone and everyone I could!
What started out as just a fun thing to do with my theater friends while we were out at the V-Ho, celebrating our performance nights, became so much more for me. I couldn't get ENOUGH tarot in my life, and I loved sharing this beautiful passion of mine with others in such a meaningful way. However, what really changed the way I saw and read tarot was when I started reading more primarily for myself. I used to think - like many - that tarot could tell me my future. What I didn't realize was that tarot was there to help me CREATE the future I desired and to help me grow into the person I was becoming. To me, it is the ultimate tool for self-development.
So, with that, all I can say is this: I would love to read some tarot for you.
For this event I will be providing 3 and 5 card spreads only, but I am available for larger spreads both in person and virtually should you be interested in that!
