BOOMBOX is back [SAT.5/2] with the long-awaited return of certified west coast icon/pioneer BATTLECAT + Los Angeles hip hop queen MONALISA!!

Simply put, South Central LA's own BATTLECAT is one of the most important producer/DJs to ever come out of Los Angeles! From his start as one of the original 1580AM KDAY Mixmasters in the late 80s to his iconic production discography featuring the likes of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Kurupt, Ice Cube, The Eastsidaz, Nate Dogg, Nipsey Hussle, The Game, Domino, King Tee, Lucy Pearl, E-40, Xzibit, Faith Evans, & countless others...his name is synonymous with the sound of Los Angeles known as G-Funk! Most recently he's toured the world with Kamasi Washington and served as Program Director for Dr. Dre's "The Ph*rm*cy" show on Apple Music. We could not be more hyped to welcome one of our most iconic OGs back to our stage for a special performance!

If that wasn't enough, we're incredibly excited to welcome back the queen of Los Angeles, the legend MONALISA! Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Mona got her start in the music industry as a street/radio promoter in the early 90s where she helped launch the careers of legends like the Wu-Tang Clan, Tha Alkaholiks, Slum Village, OC, & more at iconic labels like Loud, Wild Pitch, Delicious Vinyl, Immortal, & Good Vibe. She then pivoted utilizing her extensive music knowledge to become one of the most sought-after DJs in the city. She joined the legendary Umoja Hi-Fi crew in 2009, has been a resident at the iconic Motown On Mondays since 2012, and has held down her radio show on Dublab since 2016. Needless to say, she is a Los Angeles icon and we couldn't be more hyped to have her back on our turntables!

Since September 2nd, 2006, Boombox has provided a home for Los Angeles hip hop lovers to gather every first Saturday of the month and celebrate the genre’s most respected DJs and producers. Celebrating their 15-year anniversary in 2021, they’ve gained a faithful following of music aficionados who all share one common trait: the love of hip hop culture.

Residents Inka One, Ben Diggin, and Mantron have created a signature sound and energy that is authentic, inclusive, and fiercely committed to promoting the culture and artistry of hip hop. For the past 18 years, Boombox has given Los Angeles a home for hip hop connoisseurs who understand the importance of the DJ. Since its inception, their mission has remained pure: to provide an honest hip hop/DJ-centric night that caters to the working-class crowd.
