BookWoman 2nd Thursday Poetry Reading and Open Mic is delighted to welcome features Katherine “Katie” Hoerth and C. Prudence Arceneaux Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 7:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. CDT. Arceneaux will be joining us in-store, while Hoerth will feature via Zoom. A “round robin” open mic follows the featured reading. Cindy Huyser hosts.

Katherine Hoerth is the author of six poetry collections, including her latest, Pandora's Prairie, just released from Cornerstone Press at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Her other recent title, Flare Stacks in Full Bloom (Texas Review Press, 2022), won the 2023 Summerlee Book Prize from the Center for History and Culture of Southeast Texas. She is the recipient of the 2021 Poetry of the Plains Prize from North Dakota State University Press for Prairie Madness (North Dakota State University Press, 2021) and the 2015 Helen C. Smith Prize from the Texas Institute of Letters for the best book of poetry in Texas for Goddess Wears Cowboy Boots (Lamar University Literary Press, 2014). Her work has been published in numerous literary magazines including Literary Imagination (Oxford University Press), The Texas Observer, and Southwestern American Literature. She is an associate professor at Lamar University and director of Lamar University Literary Press.
C. Prudence Arceneaux, a native Texan, is the author of two chapbooks of poetry-- DIRT (2018 Jean Pedrick Prize) and LIBERTY-- and the full-length collection PROPRIOCEPTION. Her work has appeared in various journals, including The Academy of American Poets’ Poem- A- Day, Limestone, Hazmat Review, Texas Observer, African Voices and Inkwell. She is the Department Chair of Creative Writing at Austin Community College in Austin, TX.
