About this Event
Our very first Tiny Bookstore Concert will feature Polsky West, a Brooklyn-based duo of experimental folk guitar virtuosos. Doors open at 5:30; the show starts at 6pm and will last about half an hour. Tickets are limited. Seating available only to people who need it.
Polsky West is a duo guitar project from Maya Polsky and Lulu West combining intricate experimental guitar textures with folk songwriting tendencies. Polsky West recently recorded a live album for a sold-out audience at Stone Circle Theater and have an upcoming record they wrote and recorded during a residency at Tippet Rise Art Center in Montana. Lulu and Maya have also written works for larger ensembles, including their project Play / Space, a collection of duo compositions and their orchestrated counterparts performed side-by-side at the Granoff Center for the Performing Arts in Providence, RI, as well as Touch The Moon, a commission for Ensemble Dal Niente.
Maya Polsky is a producer, composer, songwriter, and guitarist based in Brooklyn, NY. Trained as a jazz guitarist, she is inspired by the experimental, instrument-centric spirit of the 60s and 70s.
As a producer and songwriter, Maya both releases music under her own name and collaborates with artists like Miranda Del Sol, FIG, MICHELLE, and many more. Maya also composes and performs with collaborator Lulu West in Polsky West, a duo guitar project that blends folk songwriting influences with experimental guitar textures. She loves composing for film and has scored a number of shorts.
While she mainly works in the studio, Maya also gigs as a guitarist alongside lots of indie musicians. This summer, you can catch her on tour in stadiums across the country playing guitar with Annabelle Dinda opening for Noah Kahan. You can keep in touch at @mayapolskymusic and at mayapolskymusic.com

At Books & Cake we sell--drumroll please--books and cake, because we love them both. (We sell notebooks and puzzles and greeting cards and games, too.) Store owners Julie Sternberg and Eve Yohalem are authors who have written twelve books between them and read way too many to count. They love nothing more than talking books, which is why they hosted the Book Dreams podcast for more than three years. Please stop by to talk about books and enjoy a delicious slice of cake in person! We'll be so happy to see you.
