Join local artist Emily Cooper for a beginner block printing workshop at Bike Trail Books! We'll earn to carve our own bookish design and print it on book pages. During this workshop, participants will be provided two bookish designs and a borrowed set of carving tools and supplies. Emily will teach how to carve the block and provide one-on-one instruction as needed. After carving, each participant will ink up their block and print it onto book pages from. Blank paper will also be provided for anyone wanting a plain white background. Each participant will leave with their carved block, finished print, and information on where to purchase more tools and supplies should they want to continue block printing as a hobby.What to Expect:
-Hands on instruction starting from the basics - no experience expected
-Ample time to complete your design and help from an artist to ink and print your block
-All supplies will be provided
Emily Cooper is an artist specializing in linoleum block printmaking. When she isn’t teaching beginner block printing she is at her home studio in Cincinnati working on her own printmaking practice or at art fairs showing her work. One of her current projects is creating an oracle deck of cards consisting of images derived from reduction linoleum block prints and a book of meanings written by Emily.
