About this Event
The Bookface Sip & Swap features a sustainable book swap, boasting a collection of hundreds of titles from various genres.
Guests are encouraged to bring up to four books in good condition for participation in the swap. However, even those without books to contribute are welcome to join the exchange, which will follow a 45-minute Q&A session with esteemed guest author, Graeme Armstrong.
His debut novel The Young Team was turned down by hundreds of publishers, in part for being written in Scots, before becoming a breakout Sunday Times bestseller. It received the Somerset Maugham and Betty Trask Awards and was Scots Book of the Year in 2021.
Graeme Armstrong is a Scottish writer from Airdrie. His teenage years were spent within North Lanarkshire’s gang culture. He was inspired to study English Literature following his reading of Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting at just sixteen.
Alongside overcoming his own struggles with drug addiction, alcohol abuse and violence, he defied expectation to read English as an undergraduate at the University of Stirling; where, after graduating with honours, he returned to study a Masters’ in Creative Writing.
Enjoy a glass of Prosecco or a drink of your choice on arrival and after the guest interview.
