Join the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery for a special book release celebration during Black History Month. My Afro Indigenous Superpower is a children’s book by Marique B. Moss, Afro Indigenous author and community educator, that centers identity, pride, and belonging.
The event will feature a live children’s reading, a book signing with books available for purchase, and cultural programming for children and families. Activities will weave together Native American and Black traditions and include a bookmark making station and a Create Your Own Superhero photo booth where children can dress up, pose, and celebrate their own superpower in a fun photo space. Fun, interactive activities will be led by Mashkiki Studios.
Activities are rooted in identity affirmation, offering space for mixed Native and Afro Native children and families to feel seen, affirmed, and celebrated.
This family-friendly event is open to children, families, educators, and community members.
