About this Event

Join us for a conversation with Andrei Piontkovsky, one of Russia’s most incisive political analysts and moral voices in exile, as he presents his new book, The Rise and Fall of Putinism and the Stakes of a Global War.

Spanning more than two decades of essays and commentary, the book traces the evolution of Russia from the hopeful dawn of the post-Soviet era to the entrenched authoritarianism of Putin’s rule - and its catastrophic consequences for global security. Piontkovsky dissects the mechanisms of “Putinism,” its ideological roots, and its export beyond Russia’s borders, offering a prophetic account of the forces driving today’s war and reshaping the world order.

With characteristic clarity and courage, he invites readers to examine not only the collapse of a regime but the moral and geopolitical stakes of the confrontation unfolding before our eyes.

Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.
RSVP and registration required.

Andrey Piontkovsky is a Russian scientist, political analyst, and one of the most prominent critics of Vladimir Putin’s regime. Trained as a mathematician and systems analyst, he worked for many years at the Russian Academy of Sciences before becoming one of Russia’s most influential political commentators.

A longtime advocate for democracy and human rights, Piontkovsky is known for his incisive writings on Russia’s authoritarian transformation and the ideology of “Putinism.” His notable works include Another Look into Putin’s Soul, Russian Identity After the Cold War, and Disintegration of the Empire.

Now based in Washington, D.C., he is a fellow of the Hudson Institute and a frequent contributor to Western and Russian-language media, where his analytical clarity and moral courage have made him a leading voice of Russia’s democratic exile.
