About this Event
Join us for the launch of our new publication, "Table of Two Cities: Untold Stories of Refugees in Hong Kong" at the Hive Poho!
This bilingual English and Chinese book is the culmination of a community project that began in late 2016, aimed at amplifying the voices of refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong through the powerful medium of food. After over seven years of collaboration with dedicated volunteers, this publication showcases the resilience of our community and the ability of meals to bridge divides.
We invite you to attend this special book launch celebration and participate in a series of exclusive activities:
- A panel featuring interviewees who contributed their heartfelt stories to the book
- Spice bottling to bring the flavors of our stories to life
- Small bites to enjoy
- An opportunity to order (or pick up) your own copy of the book
With 210 pages of full-color insights, “Table of Two Cities” includes 14 interviews from five regions and 32 recipes, revealing the rich cultures within Hong Kong's refugee and asylum seeker community. Proceeds from each book will directly support those featured and our community partners, as well as the ongoing work of our registered charity, Grassroots Future. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Dr. Martens Foundation for their generous support in bringing this project to life.
Help us share these untold stories and celebrate the power of community!
