About the author:
Janet was born, educated and married in England. Her husband’s job took them to Massachusetts where she worked in a nursery school. Her first book, The Story of a Home Playgroup, (non-fiction) was published in 1980.
In 1981, the family emigrated to Australia. She graduated LLB from Melbourne University. In 1987 they moved to Wellington. While working for the law courts and New Zealand Law Commission she wrote three legal texts and a biography of New Zealand’s first woman lawyer, In the Footsteps of Ethel Benjamin, published in 2009.
After retiring to Waiheke Island in 2011, she wrote The Herstory of OWLS, a history of the early years of Otago Women Lawyers Society.
