The book will by presented by Dr Aida Ponce Del Castillo, followed by discussion led by (Business School, University of Stirling).

The book explores AI’s recent and historical emergence in academia and its far-reaching sociotechnical, ethical, and legal implications, including the boundaries of automating learning, pressing concerns for academic trade unions, and growing threats to privacy and data protection. This book further looks into best practices for assessing fundamental rights impacts, implications for the EU AI Act, and the evolving landscape of intellectual property, especially as generative AI disrupts academic authorship and ownership across Europe. This event is open to anyone interested in the changing nature of academic work after datafication and automation, and wishing to discover new strategies for organising and advocating for critical AI use or resistance and fair working conditions in higher education.
