Filmmaker, writer, and NYU film professor Mo Ogrodnik launches her debut novel GULF at Greenlight! Told through a prism of several female voices, GULF follows five women with vastly different origins—from the Philippines to Ethiopia to New York City—whose lives bring them to the Arabian Gulf, where they collide with devastating and profound consequences. As cinematic as her films, this debut—written with unsettling intimacy and determined empathy—exposes the stark realities of what happens when a woman’s agency is stripped away. Bold moves unlock vital consequences and each woman’s journey con­fronts us with our own capacity for cruelty, rebellion, resilience—and hope. Ogrodonik reads from and discusses the book, before an audience Q&A and signing.
