Book Launch: Bridgett M. Davis presents Love, Rita: An American Story of Sisterhood, Joy, Loss, and Legacy
In conversation with Linda Villarosa
Bridgett M. Davis—local author of the acclaimed memoir The World According to Fannie Davis, and writer-director of the award-winning film Naked Acts—returns to Greenlight to launch her latest biographical work: Love, Rita. A searing tribute to her beloved older sister, Love, Rita tells the story of a vivacious woman who modeled for her younger sister Bridgett how to live boldly, before her own life was tragically cut short by lupus. Essential reading for fans of Jesmyn Ward and James McBride, this moving memoir is a brave and beautiful homage that both celebrates the special, complex bond of sisterhood yet also reveals what it is to live, and die, as a Black woman in America. Joining Davis for an in-depth discussion and Q&A on the book is Linda Villarosa, award-winning writer and author of Under the Skin.
