Turn back the clock to Kentucky's frontier and reimagine the life and times of its most famous founder, Daniel Boone, with author Charles Jay Bishop II on Nov. 25 at 5:00 p.m. at CoffeeTree Books.Spanning four years of war, survival, and personal reckoning, Thunder on the Frontier: Daniel Boone and Kentucky’s Darkest Hours is a sweeping tale of courage on the edge of a nation’s birth. Set against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War’s forgotten frontier battles, the novel follows Daniel Boone through his capture by the Shawnee, his uneasy adoption into Native culture, and the violent border wars that threaten everything he loves. From the siege of Boonesborough to the devastating Battle of Blue Licks, Boone and a cast of historical figures must confront betrayal, shifting loyalties, and the brutal cost of defending a dream. Rooted in real events and rich in historical realism, Thunder on the Frontier brings to life a time when the line between legend and survival was razor-thin, and every choice could shape the future of a wild, divided land.
Charles (Chuck) Jay Bishop II is an indie writer and author of the novel Morgan's Station (The Last Indian Raid in Kentucky) and the subsequent short stories series, A James Wade Tale. Having dabbled in songwriting, poetry, and fantasy writing since childhood, Morgan's Station was Chuck's first foray into the historical fiction genre. He lives and writes out of the Morgan's Station home in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, where he spends his time gardening, hunting, being in the woods, and eating (too much) in the company of good friends.
