About this Event
Sarah P. Blanchard is a novelist, short story writer, and poet living in northeastern Connecticut. She taught English and communications at the University of Hawaii-Hilo and creative writing at the University of North Carolina-Asheville.
Her debut novel, "Drawn from Life", won a 2025 Independent Press Award for New Adult Fiction and was shortlisted for The Letter Review’s unpublished novel award. Her second novel, the thriller "Grabtown", became an Amazon top-ten best-sellter in its genre, was selected as a Kirkus Review's "best indie books" for 2025, and is a finalist for the 2025 Chanticleer Clue Awards. "Grabtown", which is set in Putnam, Connecticut, is informed by Sarah's experiences as a former volunteer firefighter and radio news reporter, and by her daily life in rural northeastern Connecticut.
Recognized also for her short fiction, Sarah is a 2025 Pushcart Prize nominee; a 2024 finalist for the Porch Prize; a 2021 finalist for the Doris Betts Short Fiction Award; and a 1993 winner of the Dorothy Daniels Fiction Award.
