Central Library and Central Print are teaming up for this engaging pair of creative workshops that offer hands-on experiences for participants interested in book arts, printing, and typography. Participants will explore folding and binding techniques to craft a personalized book. This workshop will be at Central Print. Explore the creative combination of ink, wood type and paper in this hands-on printmaking and bookbinding workshop. You will learn the basics of letterpress printing by selecting and arranging wood type along with images from our collection to print one of-a-kind book covers. Then construct a pamphlet-style book with traditional bookbinding tools and hand-stitching. We will be on press using wood type and ink. Book structure will be made using a ruler, bone folder, scissors, awl, needle and thread.
