About this Event
For over thirty years Boo Hewerdine has been considered one of the UK's finest singer-songwriters; from being lead singer of seminal band, The Bible, to his subsequent solo work and long-time collaboration with Eddi Reader, with whom he achieved international success with his song ‘Patience of Angels’ in 1995. Boo also produced Reader’s …Sings the Songs of Robert Burns in 2003 - an album now viewed as a folk classic. Through all of this, the song has always been paramount.
He is in demand as a writer, producer and performer. Over a hundred of his songs have been covered by the likes of KD Lang, Kris Drever, Chris Difford, Heidi Talbot and Hannah Rarity. His last album Before was recorded with supreme Danish multi- instrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren. It garnered multiple five-star reviews.
Since then, he has released a lockdown EP, Singularities and a new album on Reveal Records. On this tour he will be singing songs from his new album and his extraordinary back catalogue. A naturally gifted and hilarious raconteur, his gigs are always a total joy.
He last visited Red Door in October 2025, for a memorable concert with singer and songwriter Yvonne Lyon, presenting their beautiful collaborative project, Things Found in Books.
Boo’s career has included performing – either solo or in bands; writing and producing material for major artists; being produced by Steve Earle; and touring with Richard Thompson to name but a few highlights. But going right back to his early ambition gives us the best clue as to his motivation as a songwriter.
'All I ever wanted was my name in the brackets. And it gave me this life'.
