About this Event
Rest in Peace, so the old saying goes. Except many of the dead in early 19th century London didn't.
Imagine living in a time when you feared for your dearly departed. Watch towers. Cemetery guns. Round the clock vigils. Anything was deployed to ensure the dead didn't end up on the anatomist's table.
Join public historian Sheldon K. Goodman of the Cemetery Club as he explores the City of London, where tales of grave robbing and other tales of horror connect to a grim and terrible practice, whilst also looking at medical history in the Square Mile.
The tour will begin in the open space outside the Old Bailey. The closest transport links are City Thameslink via National Rail, Blackfriars on the Circle and District Line or Farringdown on the Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan and Circle Lines.
