Call for Books!BOLD Coffee & Books is Portland’s newest coffee shop bookstore, featuring books that uplift the stories of people from marginalized communities.
We are on track for a mid-October open date, and we are now opening our consignment signup for authors to submit their books!
Some details to consider:
• Does your book represent a story or perspective of people who have been historically—and/or are currently—underrepresented in books and society? Examples include BIPOC, AAPI, LGBTQ+ disabled/differently abled, neurodivergent, adopted, immigrant, experiencing houselessness, low SES, women and men in nontraditional roles, and more.
• If your book features experiences of a demographic of people who do not match your own lived experience, have you worked with a sensitivity or authenticity reader to vet it?
• Or does your book have special regional interest?
• Is your book professionally published either by a traditional publishing company or you worked with book professionals to help you launch it? (If you’re not sure, it’s okay to message us to ask us what we mean. We’re happy to help!)
• Are you open to doing an event at BOLD? (This is not a requirement, but it would be great to talk with you about it if you are!)
We are dedicating a minimum of 80% of our shelf space to books by and about people from communities who have been underrepresented and marginalized. The remaining 20% will be filled with books that have special regional interest or public appeal. If you feel your book corresponds with this mission, please come by!

All authors who join our consignment program will be asked to sign a consignment agreement and bring three (3) copies of their book for us to sell at our store at 1755 SW Jefferson St., Portland, OR. The agreement will detail royalty percentages and payment terms.
