About this Event
You’re going to love this quintet of wonderfully perfumed wines for Spring when you join us for Friday’s free tasting from 3-7pm. From Australian Riesling (bone dry!) to French Sauvignon Blanc, Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and a bold California Syrah, each wine has as much to share on the nose as in your mouth. Join us to get to know:
Pewsey Vale Riesling Eden Valley 2024 – As always, this is the finest value in bone-dry Riesling in the world. As Suckling says in the 92 point review, "A bone-dry, floral riesling with aromas of white flowers, daisies, peaches and melon. Bright and tender with a zesty quality."
Claude Lafond Sauvignon Blanc Reuilly Clos Fussay 2023 – On the Cher, a Loire tributary, Reuilly is one of the best competitors to Sancerre. Bright peach and green melon fruit shine with wet stone and salty minerality driving the dry, refreshing, finish. A winner.
Patricia Green Pinot Noir Volcanic 2022 – The volcanic soils of the Willamette Valley’s Dundee Hills gives Pinot with bold and dark red fruit, spice, and a rounder mouthfeel balanced by freshening acids. This is a great one and from $20 off, a steal of a deal.
Patricia Green Pinot Noir Marine Sedimentary 2022 – Oregon Pinot from Marine Sedimentary soils gives more black fruited wine that’s also more structured, with firm acids and tannins. This is a 93 point classic and also an outstanding bargain from $34.98.
Bedrock Syrah California 2024 – The old vine specialists at Bedrock craft his robust, ripe and generous Syrah from Bien Nacido and Bedrock Vyd fruit with enough whole cluster to give shape without turning sharp. As Vinous says, “The 2024 Syrah (California) is fabulous.”
These assertively scented and flavored wines need a bold cheese and Jose has certainly found one: Cypress Grove TomaRashi. Toma is a versatile, semi-hard Italian cheese with a creamy, buttery flavor and a slightly tangy finish, often compared to a young Gouda or Havarti. Here’s it’s dosed with Shichimi Togarashi, a Japanese spice blend containing chili flakes, nigella, chili powder, orange peel, ginger powder and nori. You get a rich texture, buttery paste and huge amounts of spice flavor and feel. Just the think to shake off winter gloom and bound into Spring!
