And men known as Resurrectionists learned how to dig quietly.
The Bodysnatchers is a dark, immersive dinner-theatre event rooted in real historical practices of grave robbery and early anatomy.
Set inside a working pub, the performance unfolds around the audience as they eat, drink, and listen - never quite sure who is watching them back.
Actors remain in the space throughout the evening.
The line between audience and subject is deliberately thin.
This experience contains dark humour, historical violence, and descriptions of death and dissection. Everything you hear is drawn from real laws, real crimes, and real bodies.
