Body Weather is a comprehensive approach to training and performance that investigates the intersections of bodies and their environments. Bodies are conceived not as ﬁxed and separate entities but as constantly changing - just like the weather. Weather is seen as a complex system of forces and inﬂuences coursing through and beyond bodies and the world. As a training, Body Weather is of relevance to anyone interested in exploring the body and physical presence and this workshop is suited to dance, theatre & movement practitioners and artists of varied backgrounds.
13.30 - 16.30 Body Meets Imagination
In the afternoons we will focus on the nature and function of ‘images’ and their embodiment, working on both Omni Centra l Imaging and total body images. Frank will share and explore some of the legacy of images that were an integral part of his Body Weather training an d performances within the Maijuku performance group in Japan as well as encouraging the development of individual images generated by participants for use in contemporary performance. The term & philosophical basis for Body Weather was founded in the early 1980's by dancer Min Tanaka and further developed by Laboratories worldwide.
Frank van de Ven was a member of Tanaka’s Maijuku Performance Company in Japan, from 1983-1991. With Katerina Bakatsaki he leads Body Weather Amsterdam, a platform for training and performance. He has an ongoing commitment to the Body/Landscape projects conducted worldwide and since 1995 he has led the annual, interdisciplinary Bohemiae Rosa Project with Milos Sejn (Acade my of Of Art and Design, Prague, Czech Republic), connecting body and landscape with art, geology and architecture.

Το Body Weather είναι μια ολοκληρωμένη μέθοδος εκπαίδευσης και καλλιτεχνικής πρακτικής που διερευνά τη σχέση ανάμεσα στο σώμα και το περιβάλλον του. Τα σώματα δεν αντιμετωπίζονται ως σταθερές και ξεχωριστές οντότητες, αλλά ως κάτι διαρκώς μεταβαλλόμενο – όπως ο καιρός. Ο «καιρός» εδώ νοείται ως ένα σύνθετο σύστημα δυνάμεων και επιρροών που διαπερνούν τα σώματα και τον κόσμο γύρω τους.
Η μέθοδος αναπτύχθηκε στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 1980 από τον Ιάπωνα χορευτή Min Tanaka και εξελίχθηκε μέσα από εργαστήρια και καλλιτεχνικές ομάδες σε όλο τον κόσμο.
Το εργαστήριο απευθύνεται σε καλλιτέχνες και επαγγελματίες του χορού, του θεάτρου και των επιτελεστικών τεχνών αλλά και σε όσες και όσους ενδιαφέρονται να εξερευνήσουν την κίνηση, το σώμα και τη σωματική παρουσία.
Πρωινό πρόγραμμα
10:00 – 12:30 | Εκπαίδευση Body Weather
Εντατική σωματική εκπαίδευση που αναπτύσσει την αντίληψη, τη διαθεσιμότητα και τη φυσική παρουσία του σώματος, διερευνώντας τη σχέση του με το περιβάλλον και τις δυνάμεις που το επηρεάζουν.
Απογευματινό πρόγραμμα
13:30 – 16:30 | Το Σώμα Συναντά Την Φαντασία
Οι απογευματινές συναντήσεις θα επικεντρωθούν στη φύση και τη λειτουργία των εικόνων και στην ενσώματη πραγμάτωσή τους. Θα δουλέψουμε με πολυ-κεντρικές και με ολικές εικόνες του σώματος. Ο Frank θα μοιραστεί στοιχεία από την εμπειρία και την πρακτική των εικόνων που αποτέλεσαν βασικό μέρος της εκπαίδευσής του όπως και των παραστάσεων της ομάδας Maijuku Performance Company στην Ιαπωνία. Παράλληλα θα ενθαρρυνθεί η ανάπτυξη προσωπικών εικόνων από τους συμμετέχοντες για χρήση στη σύγχρονη περφόρμανς.
Ο Frank van de Ven υπήρξε μέλος της ομάδας Maijuku του Tanaka στην Ιαπωνία από το 1983 έως το 1991. Μαζί με την Κατερίνα Μπακατσάκη διευθύνει το Body Weather Amsterdam, μια πλατφόρμα εκπαίδευσης και καλλιτεχνικής έρευνας. Συμμετέχει επίσης σε διεθνή πρότζεκτ Body/Landscape και από το 1995 συνδιευθύνει το διεπιστημονικό Bohemiae Rosa Project με τον Miloš Šejn στην Πράγα.
