Boccherini & BeethovenChamber Music Society of Lincoln Center
Chamber Music at The Barns
The warm sonorities of lower strings take center stage in this program celebrating the expressive power of the cello and viola. Boccherini, a virtuoso cellist himself, weaves rich textures and dramatic intensity in his G minor quintet, a striking work featuring two cellos. Beethoven’s G major string trio, written at the height of his early period, showcases the composer’s boundless energy and lyrical elegance. The French Baroque master Jean-Baptiste Barrière brings a dazzling interplay of two cellos in his virtuosic Sonata in G major. The evening concludes with a lush and evocative rarity—Alfredo D’Ambrosio’s Suite for Strings, a work of exquisite charm and grandeur that highlights the full spectrum of string artistry.
