Bob Wayne makes raw, deep, ‘pure country’ music that walks the line between comedy and dark truths, never trying to be anything he’s not and consequently ensuring everything he does is genuine, with a total lack of affectation. With his natural vocal style often having common links to artists such as the late great Johnny Cash and his songwriting style compared to Kris Kristofferson Bob brings a neo-Cash vibe that is much needed in today’s resurgence of authentic country music. The latest album Tombstone Opera” is a neo-noir western concept album written and produced by legendary Hollywood icon James Woods, composed and performed by Bob Wayne, and produced by multiple Grammy Award winner, Shooter Jennings. Recorded at historic Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles, CA with the Highway Storm Orchestra, the result is an unusual but powerful musical journey into the Old West.
Many moons ago Bob Wayne started out as a roadie for Hank (Williams) III, one of the most famous country rockers in the world. Bob's music is inspired by country heroes Townes Van Zandt, David Allan Coe, Hank 3, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, but he also loves the heavier guitar work of Pentagram, Black Sabbath, Pantera and Neurosis. It is therefore not surprising that Bob also has a large following among punk, hard rock and metal fans and has performed at festival such as Sweden Rock, Roadburn, Psychobilly Meeting, Wacken Open Air, Speedfest and Roadkill Festival. The rousing outlaw country of this redneck is inspired by life ‘on the road’, with lyrics about truckers, women and BBQs, and is an absolute must for anyone with a heart for rock & roll.
