About this Event

Bob Stewart was a folk hero in Dundee where he championed the poor and unemployed. As a joiner he worked on building the Discovery, became a Dundee trade union leader and was elected to Dundee Town Council as a Prohibition councillor.

But after World War One he became a dedicated revolutionary and a spy for Stalin. Even continuing in his activities when his own son-in-law was shot by the Russian dictator. With new access to MI5 files and KGB archives we learn that Bob Stewart and his family acted as international agents for Moscow and would serve at the heart of the famed Cambridge spy ring. And there are two intriguing and surprising references to Broughty Ferry…!

Doors open from 12.30pm at the Glasite Hall on King Street. Please enter from the churchyard or the east side of the building (the lift is available from both sides but the accessible door is at the east entrance). You DO NOT need to bring a printed ticket.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available to purchase before the talk. Entry to the talks are free but if you would like to make a donation towards the hire of the hall, there will be a donations tin available.

If you need to cancel for any reason, please do so via Eventbrite or email us on [email protected].
