About this Event
In times of disruption and uncertainty, it is critical for aspiring and new Non-Executive Directors everywhere to understand and reflect on the skills and competencies that are required to have impact in the modern board room. Not only are NED’s and Trustees required to provide critical oversight, but they are also expected to be able to engage with emerging challenges such as encouraging board diversity, corporate sustainability and facilitating the development of a healthy board culture.
To stimulate your thinking about these challenges, the LBS Leadership Institute, in collaboration with the Alumni Career Centre, has created pilot 1 day Board Awareness Masterclass with the objective of creating a space where new and aspiring NEDs and Charity Trustees can come together to hear about the Corporate Governance and Board Effectiveness with LBS Leadership Institute Faculty, staff and fellow aspiring and current NEDs and Trustees. This pilot has been curated using selected content featured on the new Corporate Governance and Board Effectiveness course launched at LBS in the Autumn of 2020. Our aspiration is to use the feedback generated from the pilot to inform the shape and scope of future initiatives on Board Awareness might look like for our alumni community.
The Masterclass will be led by:
Professor Randall S. Peterson - Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Academic Director of the LBS Leadership Institute
Vyla Rollins - Executive Director of the LBS Leadership Institute
Simon Osborne – Executive Fellow, LBS Leadership Institute
Christine de Largy – Executive Fellow, LBS Leadership Institute
The day will feature sessions on topics/research relating to boards and board effectiveness. More specifically, you will have the opportunity to consider the overall functioning of a board, the role of Non-Executive Directors and the skills needed to become one. The day will end with an evening panel session, with an opportunity for Q&A, followed by a networking reception.
Additional Information
This will be a participatory masterclass, with a small group of your alumni peers so please come prepared to share your thoughts, insights and questions with our faculty members. Before the Masterclass, we encourage you to review some of the materials you were introduced to, and data generated on you, during your LBS learning journey--to provide a context to help you think about how you might build an action plan for yourself given the discussions and concepts presented during the day.
Once you have signed up you will receive an email invitation with a pre-masterclass survey and a full agenda for the day. This email will come from [email protected].
