About this Event
Two years since Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) came into effect and it’s already delivering on its promise – driving vital nature recovery without obstructing essential development. BNG is now helping unlock the projects needed to meet the UK's ambitious development targets, including building 1.5 million new homes, and seeing our valuable habitats restored. Join us for our latest breakfast event where we'll be sharing everything you need to know about BNG in your area.
We've carefully selected speakers with local expertise to offer guidance on the planning, ecology, and legal aspects of BNG policy, along with everything they have learnt over the past year. They'll be there to give an overview of BNG, explain its requirements, and set out the most effective options for BNG delivery available near you.
Attendance will be limited so you'll be able to speak directly with our experts who are ready to offer their support.
We’ll also be giving an exclusive virtual tour of our Mawgan Habitat Bank – a live and registered BNG site that’s already generating off-site Biodiversity Units and helping to unlock development projects nearby.
Speakers
Lucie Wright | Nature-Positive Policy Advisor | South West Water
Lucie Wright is Nature-Positive Policy Advisor at South West Water, working on company-wide adoption of Pennon’s Biodiversity Strategy. Her role includes horizon scanning for opportunities for water companies to engage in emerging nature markets, to deliver Net Zero and Environmental Gains alongside BNG.
Molly Brealey | Key Account Lead | Environment Bank
Molly joined Environment Bank as our Key Account Lead during the early stages of BNG legislation two years ago – supporting clients through quotes, compliance, and purchasing registered units. She will showcase Environment Bank’s national network of 45+ BNG Habitat Banks and present recent case studies to show how the Biodiversity Units generated at Environment Bank sites have helped developers to meet their BNG planning requirements.
Annie Green | Senior Ecologist | Environment Bank
As a Senior Ecologist at Environment Bank, Annie works across our national network of Habitat Banks, implementing careful methods of habitat restoration. She will explain the ecological strategy behind these sites, focusing on Mawgan Habitat Bank in Cornwall. She will discuss all of the different habitat types that we’ve created on the site, as well as all aspects relating the management and monitoring.
