Blythe Spirit

Blithe Spirit is a supernatural comedy about a novelist who holds a séance to research the occult, but unintentionally summons the ghost of his first wife, Elvira. Elvira, visible only to him, disrupts his marriage to his second wife, Ruth, leading to a chaotic and comical series of events where Ruth is accidentally killed, becoming a ghost herself who then torments Elvira. The play, written by Noël Coward, and its film adaptations explore the ensuing rivalry between the two wives and the writer's attempts to deal with the two conflicting spirits.
