We're happy to announce that after a 7-year hiatus, Lee Hawkins' eighth annual BLUES FOR THE TROOPS has begun taking shape!Amazing raffle prizes, silent auction items, fantastic bands and special guest performers, 50/50 and silent auctions, with every dime raised filling the coffers for Operation Troop Support, a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Operation Troop Support works tirelessly 24/7/365 to provide our troops with things they can't get anywhere else during deployment and recovery in military hospitals around the world, and upon their return home.
Lee and I take great pride in being able to say, year after year, that every single cent we take in (Blues for the Troops VII raised just under $10,000.00!) goes directly to OTS, which in turn uses all that money to send care packages all around the world to our troops where they're serving! That means if one of us needs something to fulfill our role(s), we dig into our own pockets to make it happen. There's NOBODY being paid, claiming expenses or otherwise nicking our bottom line because every cent counts and we consider it part of our own personal donation to the cause!
The Lee Hawkins Band and all the other artists, performers and volunteers are honored to play a part in the benefit by donating their time and talents, while the American Legion in So. Hamilton MA graciously provides the venue!
All musicians and performers have been scheduled and will be managed by Lee Hawkins, and all donations and in-kind contributions will be handed by yours truly, with letters to our past donors going out in the first week of February! Either of us can be contacted by PM here on Facebook with inquiries. We'll use this page to post event updates, including all contributions made and performers scheduled.
Your $15 cover charge - every cent of which goes directly to Operation Troop Support again this year - means you get to hear some of the best talent in New England tear it up for six hours! This year, our amazing house band, Hawkins' Raiders is comprised of Lee Hawkins, Chuck Launsby, Steve Coffill, Johnny Fatello, Dave Morrison and John Zorzonello! Other featured bands already scheduled include New England Institution REVOLVER, Flip Side and the BoneShakerz, along with special appearances by Acoustic Acts Moose & Squirrel and Grand Cru! Special guest appearance by my twin brother, Karl Bryan Jr. on the saxophone and our friend Joey Grieve will again honor our country and troops with the National Anthem!
It's a terrific example of community in action to help Dick and Christine Moody, and all the other great folks at Operation Troop Support do the amazing things they do for the service men and women willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. Local businesses, performers and artists of all types, private friends of OTS, and even our Boston pro sports teams have all contributed in the past to make out events something that truly will have something for everyone! We don't expect anything different this year!
God Bless America and God Bless our Troops!
