About this Event
Blues dancing is one of the most intimate and expressive partner dances in the American vernacular tradition — grounded, unhurried, and deeply connected to the music. Rooted in African American culture and shaped by the soulful sounds of the blues, it's a conversation between two people and the song. Less about steps and more about feeling, blues invites you to slow down, listen, and move.
Over four weeks, we'll build a foundation in blues movement and vocabulary, exploring positions and transitions, close embrace connection, inside and outside turns, and the hip styling and grounded quality that makes blues so distinctive. Each class weaves together technique, musicality, and social dancing so you leave with tools you can use on the floor right away.
Who this class is for This series is intended for intermediate partner dancers who are new to blues. If you've been dancing Lindy Hop, swing, or another partner dance, you're ready.

A few things to know
- Please register in advance — space is limited and we will work to balance leads and follows.
- Dedicated dance shoes are required; no street shoes are permitted on the floor.
