On Saturday, June 6, 2026 the "Blues By Budweiser" concert series will feature "Deuce ‘n a Quarter”. The event will be held at RJ's Grill & Bar located at 128 S. Main in downtown Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Doors will open at 7 PM, music will begin at 8 PM. Port City Blues Society members are admitted free, only $5 cover for others. The concert series is being sponsored by M.K. Distributors.Deuce ‘n a Quarter isn’t just playing the blues — they’re rewriting what the blues can be. The blues found its next chapter in Columbus, Ohio. Fronted by Brian Peters, Deuce ’n a Quarter deals in original music that hits like a freight train and lingers like a slow burn. At the 2023 International Blues Challenge, the five-piece powerhouse earned finalist honors, and Peters took home the Lee Oskar Award for Best Harmonica Player on top of it.
From gritty Delta shuffles to hard-charging modern grooves, every performance is a reminder that the blues isn’t living in the past. It’s very much alive, it’s coming out of Columbus, and it sounds like Deuce 'n a Quarter.
Peters says that he first started playing harmonica in 2011. He soon joined the Shawn Booker Band. They made the International Blues Challenge that year and won the King of Beale Street competition. That’s when he decided to put together a band of his own and head back to Memphis. It took a few years, but Deuce ‘N A Quarter was formed in 2014. Their first album was released in 2015, the second in 2018 and the third in 2023. A few of the players have changed over the years, but the blues that the band creates has not. The third album, “Keep Moving On” is a modern take on the blues, but doesn’t stray very far and has a genuine authentic familiar feel. It is a true pleasure to listen to. Recorded with the help of Kenny Neal at his Baton Rouge studio, this album will move even the most genuine blues music fan.
