Join us every 4th Thursday of the month for Bluegrass Jams Open Mic!Accomplished Kelowna banjo player Mickey Reeves has assembled a top-notch group of bluegrass pickers to play classic tunes and back up open-mic performers. This is your chance to sing your favorite songs on stage with a full band of seasoned musicians behind you.
The open mic is by advance sign-up. Each singer will be expected to sing two songs from memory, chosen from the Summerland Bluegrass Society Songbook. Songs should be ones you know well and can perform confidently. You are welcome to accompany yourself on your instrument of choice while the band backs you up.
The Summerland Bluegrass Society is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of bluegrass and old-time country music in the Okanagan region with a vision to create a bluegrass community where singers and musicians, young and old, of all ability levels, may come together to play, sing and exchange knowledge.
Patrons are welcome to purchase food and drinks from the Roma Nord Bistro located in the Rotary Centre for the Arts. This event is free to attend no reservations necessary. However, our musicians are paid by your generous donations, so please plan to bring some cash for the tip jars.
