About this Event

Our next listening room concert experience at Wood Hall will feature bluegrass duos Matthew Sabatella and the Rambling String Band and Joseph Decosimo and Luke Richardson.

With vocals, guitar, and banjo, Matthew Sabatella connects people with music that is woven into the fabric of the United States. For more than two decades, he has followed the threads of traditional folk song, revealing a tapestry of music created by American colonists, pioneers, sailors, lumberjacks, immigrants, ’49ers, farmers, mountaineers, slaves, soldiers, cowboys, railroaders, factory workers, and activists. In his performances, Sabatella tells his own story of discovery while digging deep into his repertoire of folk, bluegrass, old-time country, fiddle tunes, Appalachian music, ragtime, blues, spirituals, railroad and cowboy songs, work songs, sea shanties, Old World ballads, and more. He will be joined by singer/songwriter Karen Feldner for some country harmonies and flatfoot dancing.

Joseph Decosimo is a leading interpreter of the banjo, fiddle, and song traditions from the Appalachian South. NPR All Songs Considered describes his music as “classic and current at the same time” and “pushing the sonic boundaries of old-time music ... gorgeous.” He's performed for audiences around the world and contributed to recordings from fellow Durham, NC based artists Hiss Golden Messenger, Jake Xerxes Fussell, and Wye Oak. Hailing from Lawrenceburg, TN, Luke Richardson is a two time National Old-time Banjo Champion and is also known for his graceful fiddling and harmonica playing. The two have performed together since 2008, touring around the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, and Spain as a duet, in the prize-winning band The Bucking Mules, and in the Beehive Cathedral trio with Cleek Schrey.

Seating is limited so be sure to get your ticket while they're available.

Proceeds will benefit the Tarpon Cove Project restoring the clear blue water of Lake Worth Lagoon.
