Yoga classes are completely free of charge for members of the Woodlawn and neighobring communities on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 pm. Please RSVP, though, due to limited capacity. Childcare is also provided, although capacity is limited. Please note if you would like to make use of the childcare option by selecting a childcare ticket in addition to your regular ticket. All mats and supplies are provided!

Your Instructor:
Hailing from Kansas City, MO, Alexis has spent the last 3 years making Chicago home. She is a 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance, an artist and a former elementary educator. Additionally, she holds a BA in Communication Studies from University of Missouri-Kansas City and an MA in Organizational Leadership from Adler University. Alexis has committed her life’s work to being a movement and healthy living advocate and prioritizes her service for under-resourced communities. When not on the mat, she’s a student to life finding time enjoying nature, being creative, and creating opportunities for community connections!

The Studio:
Blue Lotus Yoga Studio, located in Woodlawn, is the place to go to promote health, wellness, and healing. Dedicated to improving health and mindfulness, Blue Lotus Yoga Studio offers workshops for all skill levels. Come experience the physical and spiritual benefits of yoga during the Blue Lotus Yoga + UChicago UAID yoga event.
Yoga has been practiced for over 5,000 years due to its ability to reduce blood pressure, lower heart rate, improve balance and sleep, and decrease joint and muscle pain. In addition to its physical benefits, yoga has also been shown to increase emotional wellbeing. Blue Lotus works to introduce as many people as possible to the practice of Yoga and build a supportive and healthy community.
Outside of Blue Lotus’s collaboration with Sunshine Gospel and UChicago’s UAID, the studio offers various yoga courses: vinyasa yoga, focusing on dynamic, physical practice to build strength and endurance, flow and slow flow yoga, focusing on steady breathing, balance and mindfulness, and egyptian and kemetic yoga, focusing on detoxifying one’s energies. These courses are just a few of the many options Blue Lotus offers.

Childcare is provided! Just select one of the Childcare tickets on the Eventbrite order form in addition to your adult ticket.
Transit Options:
Blue Lotus Yoga is located at 816 E 63rd St, Chicago, IL 60637, right next to the CTA Green line Cottage Grove station! There is street parking easily available in front of the studio, as well as a parking lot adjacent to the building complex on the corner of E 63rd St and S Drexel Ave. Other transportation options to the studio include Bus 63 (63rd bus – closest stops are 63rd Street & Cottage Grove Green Line or 63rd Street & Drexel) or Bus 4 (Cottage Grove bus – closest stop is Cottage Grove & 63rd Street).
Healthy Snacks:
Hungry after exercising? Healthy snacks and water will be provided. Enjoy fresh apples, Nature Valley granola bars, and bottled water. All free of cost. We hope to see you there!
