About this Event
Are you prepared to manage a MAYDAY?
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY" are the most frightening words transmitted on the fireground. It means something has gone terribly wrong and a firefighter, or worse yet firefighters, are in distress and calling out to the heavens for help. Your heartbeat races as anxiety starts to build. Emotions are running high as the fireground transitions toward chaos. What do you do? How do you manage an event of this magnitude? Why did it happen in the first place?
Consider the following:
- Less than 5% of officers involved in a Mayday actually participated in Mayday Management training before the event
- Over 65% of the Maydays happen when a company officer riding up as a chief officer
Blue Card will address these issues, and many more, in a two-day workshop and continuing education event dedicated to Mayday Management. We will offer task, tactical, and strategic level solutions to Mayday Management that will be exercised in Mayday simulation training. Participants can expect education and training on the following topics:
- Extensive review of the data collected from Project Mayday
- Analysis of lessons learned from past Mayday events
- Fireground accountability
- Effective Division Operations
- Application of the Help Order
- Mayday CAN Reports
- Hours of tactical & strategic level Mayday training
