Blossom

The L.A. Choral Lab begins its 10th Season with Blossom, a cyclical meditation on the mysteries and promises of interconnection. Blossom celebrates the dance of life and how we, like pollen adrift on the wind, intersect paths and find meaning.

Throughout its three compact acts–”Born,” “Bloom,” and “Beyond”–Blossom engages the motif of strings (through cello and viola) to explore the growth of spirit we experience through dialogue and the delicate interplay between life and death. Lauded instrumentalists Jacob Braun and Zach Dellinger develop this theme on cello and viola, respectively, through works including a string duet by Pulitzer–Prize and Grammy–Award-winning composer Caroline Shaw that evokes souls in communion.

With works sung in Bulgarian, English, Latin, Latvian, and Malaysian; Blossom advances the mission of the L.A. Choral Lab by featuring music written almost exclusively by living composers representing six different countries, including L.A.-based Dale Trumbore and Matthew Brown, and conducted by our very own Sharon Chohi Kim and Saunder Choi.

Join us in the beautiful Immanuel Presbyterian Church to enjoy a musical landscape that is at times ornate and intricate and at other times sweeping and expansive. Together we will celebrate the miracle of possibility and our promise to blossom.

This historic venue is located on Wilshire Boulevard in a busy area with limited street parking. Therefore, we are providing two easy parking options for attendees. The first option is a VIP reserved parking lot directly adjacent to the venue, which is available for pre-purchase with your concert ticket for $20 and ensures a guaranteed space. The other option is a self-park lot across Wilshire Boulevard from the venue, which will be open and available for $5 on the day of the concert.

BLOSSOM runs approximately 1.5 hours without an intermission. Beverages are available for purchase both 45 minutes prior to the start of the show and during a reception following.
