About this Event
Bloom into School is a one-week program (3 hours per day) designed to help children build the social, emotional, and practical skills they need for a confident start to school. The program is led by our experienced Occupational Therapist, Nichole Towers, OTR/L, in collaboration with Shenandoah University. Children will learn through hands-on activities, games, and group experiences to develop and strengthen developmental skills while learning to work with others. We will practice routines like attendance/circle time, lunchtime, specials and bathroom breaks. While the focus is on playful learning and fun, we will be secretly building your child’s confidence before they walk through the doors on their first day of school!
This program seeks to:
- introduce school-day routines
- develop peer relationships
- master transitions
- initiate and sustain cooperative play
- expand social-communication, sensory and motor skill development
