Blood and Yin in TCM

Join us for this in-person event at the Luminae space in Berkeley, California!

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the health of your Blood and Yin informs mental health, hormones, sleep, aging, hydration, and youthful vitality. Erin Masako will lead an in-depth exploration of how to understand the balance of Blood and Yin in your own body and mind. And we'll draw upon TCM and kitchen herbalism to deepen our understanding of how to use this knowledge at home and in a healing practice. There will be a tea tasting of a nourishing decoction and a discussion on herbalism and food as medicine.

This class will include:

  • Introduction to TCM concept, including Blood and Yin.
  • How to recognize Blood and Yin imbalances in your body and mind.
  • Top 10 herbs - including mushrooms, seaweeds, berries, he shou wu, longan fruit, dang gui and jujube dates.
  • Tea tasting of a nourishing Blood and Yin decotion.
  • Qigong meditation.

Your instructor:

Erin Masako Wilkins is an Asian American herbalist, acupuncturist, and author who has treated patients for years and taught workshops for those seeking more information about herbal healing. Her book, "Asian American Herbalism" is at the intersection of North American folk herbalism and traditional Chinese medicine. Remarkably, she is one of the first AAPI authors on this subject for a general audience and approaches this work from a deeply personal place. Erin trained and earned a master's degree in East Asian Medicine from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, CA. To learn more about her work, visit HerbFolkShop.com

Preparation:

You are welcome to bring a backjack or meditation cushion so that you are comfortable seated on the floor for the workshop. We encourage you to arrive early and get settled in so that we can begin on time.
