Block Print Berlin: Printing Repeat Patterns - Young Designers Masterclass

In this session, we will explore techniques to create repeat patterns. In this masterclass, young designers will learn how to transform a single motif into a repeat design. Creating your own unique repeat patterns is what this is all about.

We will explore overlayed repeats (printing a motif, then printing another over it) and of course, our favourite, a personal rhythm repeat, where we print motifs to our own rhythm, without strict alignment. We will learn the rules and then break them creatively!

We will learn how to align and register blocks to print our textiles. We start to explore our own visual language.

(The instruction of the workshop is in English, but it is not difficult to follow. Our workshop facilitator is an experienced and qualified arts and culture teacher, journalist, designer and visual arts researcher with 25 + years of experience in arts education, writing and visual research.)
