Celebrate the end of summer with a burst of creativity! If you’re excited about the upcycle movement, this workshop is the perfect place to start. Whether you want to cover a stain on a favorite T‑shirt, customize a thrift‑store treasure, or add your own flair to a basic top, Artist in residence Casey Beal will guide you through the joyful process of block printing on fabric.
Using Speedy‑Carve blocks and fabric ink, you’ll design, carve, and print your own handmade stamp. The class covers all the basics for beginners, but all experience levels are welcome. If you’ve printed on paper but haven’t tried fabric yet, this is a great chance to learn how to avoid common challenges — before blowing your budget on trial and error. Casey will walk you through each step with samples, demonstrations, and plenty of support. Participants are encouraged to bring images for design reference so you can spend more time carving and printing. Additional pre‑carved blocks will also be available for experimenting with placement, pattern, and layering. *Fabric ink takes about 24 hours to dry to the touch and a full week to cure before washing, so please plan ahead for travel and storage.

Supplies are not included in the class fee. A PDF supply list is available in the workshop description.

Our courses are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
