Sceptical Charles only wants inspiration for his next book, and is horrified to discover that in doing so, his first wife Elvira, has been summoned from the beyond by eccentric medium Madame Arcati. No one else seems to be aware of the ghost, however, and Elvira uses this to her advantage to transform the lives of Charles and Ruth forever.
Coward’s “improbable farce in three acts” premiered in the West End in 1941, running for almost 2,000 performances, and has been delighting audiences with its wit and sparkle in frequent revivals ever since.
