Blind Book Date Book Exchange: Find Your Next Literary Love!

We all do it: we judge books by their beautiful covers, their famous authors, or their trending status. But what if you could choose your next literary adventure based purely on chemistry, mood, and a tantalizing hint of plot?

Join us for a unique event where every book is searching for its perfect match. Get ready to go on a Blind Book Date—a delightful swap where the only thing you see is the "dating profile" we craft together! It’s the perfect way to discover a book you'd never normally pick up and connect with fellow readers in the community.

A Blind Book Date is your chance to trade a beloved, gently used book for a new mystery, chosen based on an intriguing description. The thrill is in the reveal!

Here is exactly how this delightful exchange works:

Select one or two gently used books (in good condition) that you truly loved and want to share with a new reader.

Important Book Limit: Please limit yourself to one (1) or two (2) books. If you bring more than two, we will only accept the first two for the exchange pool to ensure a manageable and high-quality swap.

When you arrive, your book will be completely wrapped, hiding the cover, title, and author. To help your book find its perfect match, you will fill out a special "Dating Profile" card to attach to the wrapping paper.

• First Impression: A one-word mood (e.g., Thrilling, Cozy, Philosophical).
• Looking For: The major theme or plot point (no spoilers!).
• Best Qualities: Hints about the writing style or setting (e.g., Fast-paced dialogue, set in a rainy city).
• Why We Should Meet: One powerful, non-spoiler selling point.

While our volunteers professionally wrap your book(s) and finalize the exchange pool, you get to relax!

We are thrilled to partner with Café Apéro, who is offering every participant one complimentary latte of their choice as you wait.

Once your book is added to the pool, it’s time to go shopping! You will browse the tables of wrapped books, reading only their "Dating Profiles."

Select one wrapped book for every book you contributed (up to two). You'll take your blind book date home and reveal the identity only when you're ready to start reading!

Tickets are limited to ensure a quality exchange. Please register in advance so we can get a headcount and ensure Café Apéro is prepared!

Your ticket price is a contribution that covers:

• One complimentary latte from Café Apéro.
• All wrapping supplies (paper, ribbons, profile cards).
• The labour and organization required to host a professional and fun exchange.
