In collaboration with the excellent community at Good Shepherd Studios around the corner from us, we're putting on a special screening of a documentary film called Blind Ambition, about the inspiring tale of Zimbabwe's first ever sommelier team competing in the 2017 World Blind Wine Tasting Championship.
After the film, we will give an introduction to blind tasting in the Back to Ours cafe using several high quality wines to give a flavour of what you will see on screen. Absolutely no performance assessment here, so either have a go yourself or let us guide you through how the process works as you sip! Tasting wines blind is a fun and useful tool that can help us avoid preconceived ideas about how a wine will, or should, taste, and provide honest reflections of quality, value, and enjoyment. Guessing a wine correctly is a great party trick, but the real value is in trusting your instincts and enjoying each bottle on its own merits. After the tasting, we will have wine available by the glass until late for extra practice after class.
In tandem with Good Shepherd Studios we want this to be accessible to the community, so we are reserving a portion of the tickets for discounted entry if the pricing would otherwise mean you wouldn’t be able to join in.
