This class is set up so that you can come in at almost any level of blacksmithing experience and complete camp related items from the simplicity of tent stakes to the complexity of a fully functional cook stand or grill. People with no blacksmithing experience should probably keep it simple, making things like fire steels, tent stakes and roasting forks, but if you already have the basics, you might want to go after a cooking tripod or a 3 piece cook stand with some accessories. There are also items in the middle range like meat flippers, spatulas, lid lifters or fire pokers. You’ll be forging with charcoal, as was often done on the frontier when access to coal was difficult or impossible. We may even cook grillables over the fires as we work! You will have access to all tools, materials and instruction needed to finish your project, as long as you are realistic about what you can likely do in the time allotted. Come prepared to have a large amount of fun!
